After raising 8 children, here’s what I’ve learned about parenting

Hello, my friends!

After raising eight children and spending nearly three decades homeschooling, I’ve learned a thing or two about parenting.

And let me tell you, I haven’t gotten everything right!

I’ve made mistakes. I’ve second-guessed decisions. I’ve had moments when I wondered if I was doing enough or even doing the right things.

But through it all, I’ve learned that responsible parenting requires more than simply loving our children.

It requires us to be intentional.

And that’s why I’m excited to share a new video series I’ve started called The Responsible Parent: 12 Qualities Every Parent Needs.

In this series, I’m sharing twelve qualities that I believe have helped shape my parenting journey.

We’re talking about:

  1. Loyalty
  2. Trustworthiness
  3. Communication
  4. Honesty
  5. Positivity
  6. Patience
  7. Determination
  8. Inspiration
  9. Love
  10. Sacrifice
  11. Vision
  12. Commitment

Now, you might be wondering why I put loyalty before love!

Well, there’s a personal reason for that, and I share it in the first video.

Each video is a conversation about what these qualities look like in real family life—not just what they sound like on paper.

Some of these lessons came easily. Others I learned through challenges, disappointments, and plenty of trial and error.

And at 64 years old, I’m still raising children and still learning!

My goal isn’t to tell you how to be a perfect parent.

It’s to encourage you to become a more thoughtful, confident, and committed one.

Whether you’re homeschooling, considering homeschooling, raising toddlers, navigating the teenage years, or watching your children become adults, I believe there’s something in these conversations for you.

I’d love for you to join me!

And I have a question for you.

Of these twelve qualities, which one do you think is the most challenging for parents today?

Just hit reply and tell me. I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.

Remember, responsible parenting isn’t about being perfect.

It’s about being consistent, persistent, and most of all, committed.

Until next time,
